At Beyond Legal Aid, we do not believe in the traditional attorney-client relationship: the experience should be equitable, empowering, and transformative for all parties.

As community members learn about legal rights and processes — even sharing these insights with family, neighbors, and friends, our attorneys learn about the communities in which they work; learn about community members’ interests, needs, and concerns; and learn new (non-legal) strategies for problem-solving to grow as adaptable and effective community lawyers.

As we enter the new year facing an unprecedented wave of potential evictions, deportations, and workers’ rights violations, a one-time or monthly contribution to Beyond Legal Aid is a direct investment in community-located, community-operated, and community-directed legal programs.

Beyond is raising funds to launch new community-led partnerships across Illinois, in addition to supporting our over 20 existing community law programs.
