“Beyond Legal Aid is what legal aid is ought to be”

Over the past two years, Beyond Legal Aid conducted surveys and interviews with community members who have worked with Beyond, and many had similar things to say about their previous attorneys:

“I worked with a law firm before working with Beyond Legal Aid. My past attorney would charge me for everything! He would even charge me for the phone calls we had while I was in ICE detention.”

“[Our previous] attorney would send the receptionist to talk to us and fill out our paperwork. Every time we had an appointment, we were seen by a different person that was not the attorney."

“I had no idea what was going on with my case until I started working with my attorney at Beyond Legal Aid.”

Beyond Legal Aid is changing the way communities and lawyers work together.

Our community activism lawyering model empowers community members to understand, participate, and shape the very legal systems that have systemically alienated them.
